Alert Type: Freezing Rain Advisory
Issued or Partial Issued States: Southern Texas
Site: National Weather Force has issued a Freezing Rain Advisory effective for Thursday evening through Friday, January 20-21, 2022
Date Issued: 1/19/22 at 6:30 am Central
Forecast: A system moving through New Mexico right now will eject into the plains today and produce severe weather with the risk of tornadoes for MS/LA during the evening/night hours, with flooding east into AL. This same system will bring freezing temperatures to the rare zone of Southern Texas Thursday evening through the overnight into some of Friday. These temperatures in place will bring about freezing rain for a light coat of ice. Being this targets SAN ANTONIO as well, this freezing rain advisory is warranted.
A NWF Freezing Rain Advisory means that conditions are favorable for ice to form on roadways and branches which can lead to power outages. Ice accumulations between 0.01 and 0.24 trigger this advisory.
