Forecast: A surface low will develop over Oklahoma this evening, moving into Arkansas overnight, mainly through Friday. Storms are expected to develop off the Gulf of Mexico moving southwest to northeast with time early Friday morning before sunrise for parts of Louisiana and Mississippi, finally entering Alabama when the Sun is already up.
Strong instability will be present along with no capping at the surface, which means storms will root to the surface. Shear in place will be strong, which will up the tornado potential. There are indications that some of them can be strong in the watch area.
Tornadoes are most likely away from the immediate coast, which is quite normal for this section of Dixie Alley.
The watch is for the entire day, but for areas in Louisiana, this is an early morning watch, owning to clearing by the later morning …
The threat will exist as far south as the Northern Florida Panhandle …
In addition to the tornado threat, large hail and damaging winds will also be likely …
