A nor’easter will bring snow inland for the New England areas while rain and gusty winds pound areas near the coast south into the Mid-Atlantic for Tuesday April 19, 2022 so read on for details …
A storm system in the Pacific Northwest today, which also hit Northern California, will move eastward through the weekend, providing heavy snowfall in North Dakota. At the same time, rain and thunderstorms hitting the southeast will eject a surface low just off the Atlantic seaboard around Monday.
This surface low center I calculate will be just east of New Jersey with rain/storms starting as early as Monday evening down there in PA/NJ and spread northeast through Tuesday for the rest of the Northeast and New England areas. The map within this article has two focus spots and those would be where I would be putting the future Winter Storm Warning and Flood Watch. The dark blue color for heavy snow is the future Winter Storm Warning location, which is mainly for inland New England zones and Northeast New York State. The green would be where the Flood Watch would be focused on, with pounding rain within the system along with strong winds. Strong winds will be reserved mainly near the coast as always is the case with this surface low track as I project it to track directly over Boston to Cape Cod before exiting northeast into Canada.
Snow/Rain will taper off on Wednesday, but gusty westerly winds behind the surface low will remain for the region … Especially the New England zones … Snowfall forecast maps will be available as the event gets closer to get on the alert system and checkmark your location if in the zone of focus … see below –
