Issued or Partial Issued States: NE, IA, KS, MO – Map inside shows affected state areas.
Site: National Weather Force has issued a Tornado Watch effective this afternoon through some of tonight … NOTE: This DIRECTLY AFFECTS THE KANSAS CITY AREA …
Date: 6/11/22 at 12:00pm Central Time
Forecast: A surface low will move across the region this afternoon and evening starting in the NE/IA areas of the watch first and moving south with time. …and this will bring a corridor of surface instability to the watch area. This, with developing low-level shear will make tornadoes likely.
Given the instability/shear values, notable tornado dynamics will be in the area, enough for a moderate tornado risk so certainly EF1 and EF2 tornadoes are possible with this system.
In addition to the tornado risk, large hail and damaging winds will be likely …
A NWF Tornado Watch is issued when notable or higher tornado dynamics exist. Weaker spin-ups can happen in the ‘weak’ category, but boxes for that are usually not issued, therefore the box will only cover the notable and over dynamics in the model below …
