Fire Weather Warning and Wind Advisory Issued for Parts of New Mexico; Details Inside

National Weather Force has issued two alerts for parts of New Mexico, effective Tuesday April 25th, 2023.  Those alerts will be the Fire Weather Warning and Wind Advisory.

The first alert is the Fire Weather Warning for Southwest and Southern New Mexico, within the red-shaded area within the image in this forecast write-up.  As Tuesday comes around, a mid-level jet stream will move over the area and wind out of the west will increase.  These winds will be 30-45 mph in gusts.  With those speeds at the same time dry air on the order of teens for relative humidity, this will factor in with warmer temperatures for increased fire risks.  Any fires starting would spread quickly.  This alert will drop on Tuesday night.

The second alert is the Wind Advisory.  This is for the Higher Terrain of Western, Central, and Northern parts of the state, within the yellow-shaded area within the image in this forecast write-up.  As Tuesday comes around, a mid-level jet stream will move over the area and wind out of the west will increase.  These winds will be 30-45 mph in gusts.  This alert will drop on Tuesday night.  This advisory includes Albuquerque’s forecast zone, with 50 mph wind gusts.
