National Weather Force has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch/Outlook effective this evening and going until 11pm CDT for North Texas.
An upper disturbance will create strong winds and lift aloft with a focus of popping off storms along the dryline (that is deepening as it moves eastward). These storms will pop off mainly north of the I-20 around Thursday late afternoon. This combined with high amounts of surface instability (from day heating), dewpoints (moisture) in the mid-60s/70s, and high levels of vertical shear will bring an upscale growth of super cellular activity. The low-level shear will be somewhat more limited compared to western Oklahoma but, an isolated tornado is also possible with any given cell. These storms will form from the west and move east along the dryline and stationary front. As they do, they will follow rapid intensification bringing once again destructive hail throughout the impacted region. Storms will most likely diminish overnight as they move out of the favorable environment.
Stay tuned for more updates.
