National Weather Force has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch/Outlook effective this evening and going until 10pm MDT for southeast Colorado.
Already a round of thunderstorms have been spotted in developing across the Colorado region. A trough is already pushing through the area allowing for early development (pop corn storms). Currently a cap is keeping storms from organizing too much and preventing storm development for others (for now). However, it is expected to break for some areas along the sharpening dryline later this evening. Plenty of moisture combined with daylight heating (instability), deep layer shear will lead to super cellular storm development. These storms will be capable of producing large hail, damaging winds and possibly a tornado. Cooling aloft will also prevail later in the evening giving away to a cluster of storms (MCS) which will shift east into the main area of concern (Oklahoma) and out of the area.
Stay tuned for more updates.
