Line of Storms Expected; Damaging Winds, Hail & Isolated Tornadoes; Midwest; June 22nd

National Weather Force has issued a Severe T-Storm Advisory effective from 2 PM to 1 AM central time for conditions right for severe storms.

Zones affected: central, north, northeast, east, south & southeast IA; southeast MN; west, southwest, south, southeast, and central WI; northwest, north, northeast, central, west & east IL; north and northeast MO.

Discussion: Warm air advection is already expected ahead of the front, with dew points pushing into the 70s. Combined with efficient instability in the lower levels and effective shear with some low-level shear, this will allow for storms capable of producing isolated hail, damaging winds, and perhaps a few isolated tornadoes.

As destabilization occurs around 2 PM CT ahead of the front, storms are expected to form across Iowa, particularly in central and northern areas, extending into parts of Minnesota. These storms will likely cluster as they move east into southern Wisconsin, stretching down into western Illinois. Eventually, they will shift east-southeast, sweeping across extreme southern Wisconsin and into northern Illinois. The storms will weaken quickly as they pass through Chicago and move southeastward, dissipating overnight.

Main risk: localized hail, damaging winds, isolated tornadoes and CG (cloud to ground) lightning.
