Elevated Flood Risk for the Eastern half of North Carolina into Southeastern Virginia Thursday and Friday

National Weather Force has issued a Flood Watch effective Thursday and Friday, July 11-12, 2024

Zones affected:  Eastern half of NC – Southeast VA –

Discussion:  A ridge of high pressure centered over the Atlantic Ocean will put the watch area under the southeasterly flow off the ocean.  This, with several impulses rotating through will bring the flood threat up.  Storms will start in Eastern North Carolina on Thursday, but increase across the entire watch area on Friday, July 12, 2024.

National Weather Force models show mostly moderate risk for the zones, but there are areas in Eastern North Carolina with a high-risk value showing up.

This is a relief from the heat.
