Thunderstorms Expected from the Sacramento Valley South through the San Joaquin Valley on Christmas Eve

National Weather Force has issued a Thunderstorm Watch that expands from Northern California’s Valley and Mountain areas through to near the Kern County Border, effective now for Christmas Eve.

A strong storm system will move through the region.  This will produce strong upper-level divergence (lift) along with instability.  Given what is seen on these numbers, this will start in the morning and end by evening, so considering it a daytime event.  These storms will also affect the Sierra Nevada, including the Mammoth forecast zones.  This will no doubt give a chance of thundersnow.  Thundersnow happens when snow is falling with thunderstorms present, which could easily produce high rates of snowfall.

Mammoth will see the 1–2-foot snow amount from this system due to the thundersnow.

NOTE:  Within the member app, only directions within California are available.  We will be changing this within this week so that certain city zones will be available for all, including Mammoth.
